Classroom adjustments can improve access, but they should respond to what a learner actually needs rather than being applied as a fixed checklist.

Position and viewing distance
Some learners may benefit from being closer to the board, teacher or demonstration. The best position depends on the learner’s functional vision and the task.
Lighting and glare
Good lighting can help some learners, while glare or excessive brightness can make visual tasks harder for others. Environmental changes should be tested with the learner rather than assumed.
Contrast and print
Clear contrast, uncluttered material and appropriate print size may improve access. Enlarging everything is not automatically helpful if it makes material harder to scan or navigate.
Assistive tools and time
Magnification, monocular devices, digital access or additional time may be useful where professionally recommended. The learner should know how to use the support in real classroom situations.
